Fimo Police Box Pendant Tutorial
For this project I used Fimo ,which is a good quality brand of polymer clay made by German a company called Staedtler, but any brand of polymer clay should do.
Just a warning: this project can be fiddly and may require a bit of patience.
For this project you will need:
3 colours of Fimo (Dark blue, white and black)
Tools:
a sharp knife
a pin
a square ended screwdriver
1. When you first take fimo out of its packet it tends to be quite dry and crumbly so you will have to kneed it until it becomes smooth and pliable enough to work with.
2. Take your blue fimo and flatten it out across your work surface. (I tried to make mine 2mm thick)
3. Cut a rectangle from the blue fimo. IMPORTANT: don't squish your scraps back into a ball. We will be using them later since thy are already the same thickness as the base.
4. take your sharp knife and cut two close lines into the surface to create the doors. Don't cut to deep or your police box will break easily.
5. Use your square ended screw driver to make indents in the base.
First press three squares on each side then use two next to each other to make rectangles to put the
windows in.
6. Pressing in the squares may have warped the edges of your police box so now is the time to use a knife and straighten them up.

7. Take one of the scraps left over from when you cut out the base and use it to cut out a piece for the roof.
8. Use another scrap to cut a thin rectangle for the bottom of your police box then attach it.

9. Cut another thin rectangle that is a little shorter that the previous one and place it over the split where the roof joins to the base.
10. Roll out a long thin tube of the blue fimo and put it to the side for later.
11. Flatten out a piece of white fimo. It's important that it is really thin
12. Cut one square and two rectangles from the white. The rectangle should be the size of the holes you made for the windows and the square the size if those on your box.
13. Fit the white square into the top left square hole on your police box and the two white rectangles into the window holes.
14. Make a round ball out of white fimo and stick it to the top of the police box.
15. Use the pin to poke a large hole all the way through the ball of fimo. This will be where you will attach it to the necklace.
16. Take the thin piece of blue fimo that you rolled out in step 10. and place it across the windows horizontally. Press it down gently with your finger
17. Use the pin to chop the thin blue fimo off at each side of the windows. I used a pin instead of the knife because I also want it to get presses into the base.
18. Using the same method create two vertical stripes in each window.
19. Flatten some black fimo then cut out a small thin rectangle. Place it on top of the strip joining the roof and base.
20. Roll a thin strip of black just like you did with the blue in step 10. Place in over the white square and use the pin to prick it onto the square. this should end up resembling writing.
21. Repeat step 20. instead using white on the black rectangle.
22. Use two small flecks of black fimo to make door handles.
23. Using the same technique you used for the windows puts stripes across the white ring.
Now your Police Box is complete! Place in a baking tray and bake according to the instructions on your packet. I usually bake mine at the temperature of 110 C/230 F for 30 minutes. My fimo packet instructs not to exceed the temperature 130 C/265 F or bake for longer than 30 minutes as this will cause the clay to produce harmful gasses.
I hope you found this helpful. Please feel completely free to ask any questions about this tutorial or leave any helpful advice on how you use polymer clay!
